Along with the popularity of Sumo rising, the ability to fill orders has greatly decreased. It used to be that the final weekend was nearly impossible to get, then all weekend and holiday dates. With the rise of a native Yokozuna, tickets for weekdays have also become very difficult to purchase via public sales, which we have relied upon. (This is all explained in the How it Works page.)
Because we no longer feel that we can fill a majority of the requests we get, we are retiring Sumo purchasing for the time being. We will start again if - no, when - the market for publicly available tickets restabilizes. We will do our best to fill those orders already placed.
Same-Day General Admission
There are same-day general admission tickets available, and I recently had a report from someone who went through the process. Here is a summary of how she said she went about it:
- Line up early.
She got in line at 3:30 in the morning (this was for the final weekend, weekdays shouldn't require one to be so early) and there were already several people in line.
Others who lined up at 6:00 were still able to get tickets, but were toward the end of those who could.
- Every member must be present.
If you have a group of three, all three of you must be there. They will only sell tickets to each member present. You cannot have one person represent the group.
- General Admission tickets are only for the day they are sold.
You cannot line up in hopes of getting tickets for the following day. General Admission seating tickets are only for the same day they are purchased and tickets are limited.
I wish you the best in your trip.
